Maybe just maybe, Chicago should've sent a scout to see him in that role last year in Edmonton. Yes we sucked, but so did Bulin. Giving him anything more than league min was absolutely stupid.

If Khabby is done it was a significant mistake...

Bowman targeted him this summer. He just didn't wake up and decide to sign him to almost a $2 million contract.

Bowman has done a lot of good but he also has made mistakes and this could be a big one.

Toews leads & Hawks win.

I think Khabibulin has been pretty darn bad the past two games he has played in, but it's not entirely his fault. There were multiple goals that couldn't have been prevented. Of course, he didn't really give up any true softies (except for the game winner to Martin St. Louis in OT).

In regards to the goal-tending situation as a whole, it needs to improve as a whole. The PK is currently the worst in the league sitting at a clip of just over 72%. That is beyond pathetic. That's equivalent to giving up at least one PP goal every single game (given an average of 4 PP opportunities of course). That has to improve big time (obviously). Once the PK improves, the team as a whole will improve because the Hawks won't be giving up 4 goals a night. Man I sure miss Frolik.

Also, has anyone else noticed how much more physical this team is compared to last year? Last year, the team was dead last in the league in total hits. This year, the team is above average at #12.

Crawford has been completely average thus far according to the numbers. I think he also needs to improve for the team to match last year's performance.

I never understood where this number came from, and why they included the additional bonuses associated with the contract. Bowman may as well have slapped a NTC on there, since I highly doubt any team is interested in Nikolai now.

Who in their right mind would've wanted Bulin for more than this year @ 1 million anyway? Bowman's made some good signings, but there have been a few that have been real head-scratchers (Brunette for 2 million, etc.)

I didn't like it...Wrote season preview and said Khabby gets hurt often and comes back like Marty Havlat. Not a day early and has to be 110%.

Khabby always pulls great contracts out of the air...Sits out a yr, leaves a Cup winner gets signed to silly #'s in Edm. after playing not so well in Chgo. Tallon signed him to the top tick goalie contract at the time...

>Agree on all points regarding SBow
>It's easy to forget this management group thought Marty Turco could still play goaltender in the NHL
>Fair to say there have been some misses on the goalie position throughout the organ-I-zation

Perhaps it's due to his agent? Jay Grossman was his agent the last time he came to Chicago, he must've worked some magic again this time around. He's been in the business a long time.

At any rate, this is looking like one of Bowman's worst decisions already...Bulin and the defence in front of him have a lot of work to do to remedy that.

All I know he has hit the long ball consistently with contracts and his agent has to get some credit for sure.

Khabby'POO was 33-67 in in a miserable 4 years Eddietown while pocketing another $15 mil....Oilers fans saw this STIFF fish a lot of pucks out of the Oil net.

How much longer or how many games will Stan and Co be willing to give Khabby? I'm afraid they will keep him around because they wouldn't want to embarass a vet and put him on waivers and send him down. More about politics than the better goalie getting a rightful spot

No doubt Bulin looks like he's hit the wall, but perhaps Toews was telling the truth after the game when he said the team played like crap and the goalie change was a wake-up call. I think Johnny was being a good teammate and leader, but I think we're likely to get a little bigger sample to further test the theory that the Wall is tumbling down before they make a move.
